Securing Critical Care: 120m Well for Kryvyi Rih Central District Hospital

Project: Water & Health (WASH) | Depth: 120 Meters

The Kryvyi Rih Central District Hospital acts as the primary medical hub for 70,800 residents across seven territorial communities. Crucially, it houses specialized wards for the most vulnerable: a geriatric department for the elderly and a dedicated shelter for veterans with disabilities.

When the regional water supply failed, the safety of these long-term patients was immediately compromised.

The Engineering Solution Bird of Light Ukraine, in partnership with Diamondback Energy and The World Orphan Fund, executed a deep-drilling operation to take the facility off the compromised grid.

  • Deep-Earth Access: We drilled to a depth of 120 meters, tapping into a secure aquifer well below surface contamination levels.

  • Full Autonomy: The installation includes industrial pumping equipment capable of meeting 100% of the hospital’s daily operational needs.

  • Potable Standards: Beyond access, we are finalizing the installation of a comprehensive water purification system to ensure clinical-grade water quality for surgeries and patient consumption.

Protecting the Most Vulnerable This project was prioritized because of who resides here. For the elderly patients and disabled veterans living in the facility’s shelter, water cuts are not just an inconvenience—they are a threat to life. By securing this water source, we have guaranteed stability for those who have already given so much for Ukraine.

Strategic Partnership This critical infrastructure upgrade was made possible by the decisive support of Diamondback Energy and The World Orphan Fund, whose funding allowed us to move from assessment to completion rapidly.
