Aid Deployment to Kramatorsk: Sustaining the Remaining 75,000
Pillar: Relief & Community Recovery | Mission Volume: 1700 units | Context: 17km from Contact Line
The Drop On May 23, 2025, Bird of Light Ukraine successfully deployed a tactical distribution of 1700 food boxes to Donetsk Oblast. This operation was executed in coordination with VPO Ukraine, moving critical nutritional assets into one of the most heavily targeted urban centers in the Donetsk region.
The Security Context Kramatorsk is no longer just a near-frontline city; it is the edge of the safety zone. Situated less than 17 km from active Russian positions, the city has faced an intensification of aerial bombardments throughout May.
In the weeks leading up to this delivery, the city has been subjected to almost daily strikes by FABs (guided aerial bombs). These munitions have devastated residential sectors, yet the city continues to function.
Demographic Shift Prior to the full-scale invasion, Kramatorsk was a bustling industrial hub with a population of over 200,000. Today, approximately 70,000–75,000 civilians remain.
These are families who, for various reasons—financial inability, elderly relatives, or deep-rooted attachment to their homes—cannot or will not evacuate. They have adapted to a terrifying "routine" of war, where air raid sirens and distant artillery are the background noise of daily life.
Partners in Execution Delivering aid into this zone requires precise risk management. We extend our gratitude to VPO Ukraine for navigating the complex logistics required to enter the city safely. This mission was fully funded by The World Orphan Fund and Diamondback Energy, whose support allowed us to procure these resources and get them to the families holding on in the Donbas.
