Responding to Ecocide: Phase 1 of 57,000 Liters to Apostolove

Pillar: Relief & Community | Mission Volume: 57,000 Liters | Context: Regional Water Scarcity

In June 2023, the destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant was not just an attack on infrastructure; it was an act of environmental terrorism. For the residents of Apostolove, the consequences are daily and dire.

Since that day, drinking water—a basic human right—has become a luxury.

Building on our previous work in the region, we are launching a new, massive hydration campaign. Our goal for this operation is to deliver an additional 57,000 liters of water to the zone. Today, we successfully completed Phase 1 of this two-part mission.

We continued our strategy of delivering 5L jugs.

  • In a region where taps run dry or brown, these jugs act as portable reservoirs for families, elderly residents, and the displaced.

  • This latest push brings us closer to our cumulative target of 102,000 liters delivered to the region.

This sustained lifeline is only possible because of a dedicated coalition:

  • Donors: A profound thank you to Diamondback Energy and The World Orphan Fund for refusing to let this crisis be forgotten.

  • The Last Mile: Gratitude to the VPO of Ukraine team, who courageously manage the distribution in these high-risk areas near the front.

We are halfway through this 57,000-liter push. The trucks are already prepping for Phase 2.
