Velyka Oleksandrivka, Kherson: Anchoring the Region with Aid
Pillar: Relief & Community Recovery | Mission Volume: 847 Units | Context: Regional Hub (2,200 Total)
On June 13, 2025, Bird of Light Ukraine executed the largest single delivery of our Kherson regional campaign, deploying 847 food boxes to Velyka Oleksandrivka.
This delivery served as the backbone of our operation in the district. While our smaller convoys peeled off to support the satellite villages (like Mala Oleksandrivka and Kucherske), this massive injection of 11.2 metric tons of food was directed at the community that holds the region together.
Scars of a Stronghold Velyka Oleksandrivka is a place of deep resilience. Occupied from March 10 until its liberation on October 4, 2022, it was used as a fortified stronghold by Russian forces. The retreat left the town battered—bridges were blown, schools destroyed, and homes mined.
Today, it acts as the primary triage point for the surrounding "grey zone." As the administrative center for the hromada, it absorbs Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from even more dangerous territories. The 847 families we served here are not just residents; many are survivors who have fled to Velyka Oleksandrivka seeking a semblance of safety.
To stabilize a region, you must stabilize its center.
Volume: 847 kits is a saturation-level delivery, ensuring that the most vulnerable households in the town are secure.
Density: Each box provides the standard 40,399 calories, meaning we injected over 34 million calories into the town in a single afternoon.
Morale: In a town where "recovery" means rebuilding from rubble, the inclusion of fresh coffee and tea offers a moment of normalcy amidst the construction.
A delivery of this scale requires heavy logistics. We thank VPO Ukraine for managing the transport of 11 tons of aid across difficult terrain. And we extend our gratitude to Diamondback Energy and The World Orphan Fund, whose funding is helping to keep this vital regional hub standing.
