Easter Joy: Fulfilling a Wish List for Chernivtsi Orphans

Pillar: Relief & Community | Occasion: Orthodox Easter | Beneficiary: Local Orphanage

Easter is the most significant holiday in the Ukrainian calendar. It is a time traditionally defined by family gatherings, feasts, and celebration. For children in institutional care, however, holidays can highlight what is missing.

To ensure the children at a local orphanage in Chernivtsi felt the spirit of the season, we decided to do something special: we didn't just guess what they needed—we asked.

The Wish List During a previous visit, we asked the administration for a specific "wish list" to improve the quality of life for the children. Their requests were humble but essential:

  • Comfort: New carpets to make the living spaces warmer and more homelike.

  • Essentials: Fresh clothes and basic necessities.

  • Celebration: Special food items for the Easter feast.

Delivering the Holiday We fulfilled the list entirely. By delivering these items right before the holiday, we hope we were able to make their Easter a little brighter and remind these children that they are seen, valued, and celebrated by their community.
