3000 Bags of Packing - Delivered to Kharkiv, Sumy, Zhaorzhzhia, Mykolaiv, Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Zhytomyr
And here’s the fun part- packing. And all the things that come along with it.
Fun facts, each bag weighs about 11 kilos, and we also do some pre-packing of the items inside so that they survive transport and don’t spill everywhere. This means that for packing, we need teams of people to load/unload, pre-bag items, assemble bags, and then get them ready for transportation to their final destinations.
Another 34 Tons of Food & Hygiene Products!
Another 34 tons of food and hygiene products to Ukraine! The first time we received our shipment, we felt ecstatic, but this time around, it feels more like routine. Which is precisely how we want it. We want these shipments coming in and distributed out throughout the country like clockwork.
50 Parrot Anafi Drones
We’ve received 50 Parrot Anafi drones from a very kind donor, which have started to head out to humanitarian teams across the country for use.
300 Care Packages to Internally Displaced & Displaced People
Along with our huge shipment of care packages out east, we had some allocated for the local community here in Chernivtsi. These items were given mostly to internally displaced persons, and disabled people here.
3000 Care Packages to Kharkiv, Zaporizhia, and Luhansk.
You don’t realize how much work it takes to assemble 3000 care packages until you start it. With a team of over 30 volunteers supporting us, we set off to work early morning. We managed to assemble 800 by the time we stopped at 7:30 PM. It’s going to take a little while.
11 Tons of Food for Kharkiv and Displaced People in Chernivtsi
Our most “fun” delivery to date. This delivery has been riddled with logistical complications, but we are thrilled that it has FINALLY arrived.
Pictured above are:
7000 packages of pork
3500kg of Sugar
3500L of sunflower oil
500kg of flour
500kg of rice
100L of diesel for our truck to Kharkiv
Concrete, Paint, and other Materials for Orphanage Renovations
Sometimes, big change doesn’t require big spending. Bird of Light Ukraine is working with one of the most underfunded orphanages in Chernivtsi to help revitalize the facility and bring a little bit more joy to the lives of these kids.
Our plan is to eventually change how orphanage care is conducted in Ukraine, introducing more foster care and making adoption easier, but that’s going to be a long term project. For now, we’re doing what we can to make the lives of these children a little bit better. Starting with where they live.
We also plan on reconstructing their playground. Click this link for more information on that!
22 Tons of Food and Hygiene Products!
A week and a half ago, we drove to Turkey to look at our options to purchase supplies from new wholesalers. Today, our fruits of labour arrived :) 22 tons of food and personal hygiene products.
12 UV Room Sterilizing Air Filters for Orphaned Babies
12 UV light air filters were delivered to a local orphanage in Chernivtsi city for children under the age of 6.
These lamps will be used in baby rooms to sterilize rooms for babies to minimize airborne diseases and bacteria. This request came from the director of the facility as they have recently found themselves overwhelmed by orphans that were relocated to western Ukraine, or were orphaned as a result of the war.
29 Pallets of Medical Supplies in Collaboration with Direct Relief
In collaboration with Direct Relief, Bird of Light Ukraine facilitated the delivery of 29 pallets of medical supplies and pharmaceuticals to Ukraine.
Orthopedic Walking Device for Blind Disabled Child
Bird of Light Ukraine primarily tries to focus on making big impact through large deliveries, but sometimes, it’s the little things that also go a long way in somebody’s life.
We were recently asked by a young single mother of three if we could provide an orthopedic walking device for her blind disabled child. While the blindness cannot be easily treated, with the assistance of this device at the child’s age, we could restore his ability to walk.
3 Pallets Medical Supplies and 8800 units of Baby Food
Another great delivery :) 3 pallets of medical supplies. Including gauze, IV kits, burn kits, oxygen tanks, burn bandages, splints, homeostatic sponges, and… 8800 units of baby food!
These items will be delivered in the coming days to the those that need it the most.
4 More Ambulances to Frontline Medics in Ukraine
This one has been a long project in development for us. We would like to first thank Mary Pat Bonner and associates for sponsoring these ambulances, to Salvo Arena of Chiomenti, a prominent Italian law firm for assisting in finding and delivering these ambulances., and to Alex Lastivka who assisted in the transportation of the ambulances into Ukraine.
These ambulances will be sent directly to frontline areas to medics for urgent triage and evacuation of injured civilians.
Thank you to everybody involved and to the brave drivers and medics who will be using these vehicles.
6 Tons of Rice and 166L of oil to Ukraine
To this point, many of our deliveries made to Ukraine were loads that could be fit inside vans. This was the first load where we needed a truck to bring it into the country.
The Chernivtsi distribution center recently reached out and mentioned that they were running short of grains. And so we (Veronica) started searching for wholesalers in Romania to purchase from.
This rice will be packaged into care bags for families in need and distributed throughout Ukraine to zones under siege.
